CUSTOMER QUESTION: We’re considering the purchase of a CLIMAX flange facer. What are the benefits of having a 360° rotating tool head and why is this feature important?

ANSWER: The majority of flange facers on the market have a fixed tool slide. While this option works well for many customers, it can be limiting in terms of the types of results that can be achieved.

CLIMAX recognized the need to provide customers with more options and created a tool swivel and rotating tool slide for its flange facer machines — the only such combination on the market. The tool head features presets at 0°, 23°, and -23° for quick set up. However, it can also be rotated a full 360˚, providing the ability to create a variety of chamfers, O-Ring grooves, lens rings and other angular surfaces as needed. A tool swivel and rotating tool slide are completely different from one another, but allow the customer to reach their desired feature. This makes a zero degree (lead-angle) tool ambidextrous, reducing the need for the majority of form tools and creating the desired repair in a timely manner.
